Frederick County Public School District in Maryland Chooses TLC
INWOOD, WV, June 20, 2008 - The 63 schools of Frederick County Public Schools will upgrade from a Follett system to Library•Solution® for Schools, TLC's Web-based, centralized automation.
Library•Solution for Schools offers media specialists advanced system features that include automatic cataloging; single click access to reports, training, and other applications; quick class sets; and student photos. FCPS staff can also perform circulation and cataloging functions from a browser.
FCPS will also take advantage of the advanced Web 2.0 technologies offered by Library•Solution for Schools' software. TLC offers schools a set of Web-based tools to promote the school district and draw students in. It features software to display book location, predictive search, reviews creation and sharing, dynamic tags, and a "book river" to highlight new items.
"Frederick County Public Schools selected The Library Corporation for its new library solution through a very competitive bid process," Sandra L. Doggett, FCPS Media Services Supervisor, said. "TLC was awarded the contract because of reasonable price and its new Web 2.0 capabilities. Students will be able to create and share their reviews of books. They will also be able to browse carousels of book jackets, and search with cutting edge search strategies. TLC provides tools for the 21st-century learner."
FCPS will also implement enriched OPAC content, allowing students to view book jacket images, reviews, fiction and biography profiles, summaries and annotations, and authors' notes.
FCPS serves more than 40,000 students and employs more than 2,600 teachers.
